Our 4Power LiFePo4 battery has been completely redesigned. Not only has the BMS system been technically improved, but the carrying case has also been given a new look. The case now features the Shop4power logo.
Three-stage charger LiFePo4
In addition to the changes to the battery itself, the charger has also been updated. The new charger is a 4-step charger instead of the old 3-step charger.
What does this mean?
A three-stage charger has the following “steps”, “stages”, “states”:
- Fast charging – when the battery is empty it is charged to maximum, i.e. with the highest possible current.
- Fully charging – when the battery starts to fill up, it's not wise to charge at too high a current, so we charge more slowly. This extends the battery's lifespan.
- Trickle charging – Once the battery is full, we switch to trickle charging, meaning charging only to keep the battery charged. This is fine, but it shouldn't last for weeks, as this also represents a kind of wear and tear on the battery.
A three-stage charger is therefore a great charger, but it must be disconnected once the battery is fully charged. It's best not to leave the battery connected to a three-stage charger for weeks.
Four-stage charger
A four-step charger has one more charging step, namely:
- Intermittent charging – in this step, after step 3, the charger essentially disconnects itself from the battery, meaning nothing happens in the battery except self-discharge. Self-discharge is extremely low for an LFP4 battery. The charger then monitors that the battery doesn't fall below a preset voltage. If the battery approaches that voltage, it automatically recharges briefly. After this, the charger disconnects again and resumes monitoring the battery.
This fourth step allows you to leave the battery connected to the charger without any problems. For example, it can simply be put away on the charger during the winter. This is a huge improvement over the 4-step charger.
The price………..nothing has changed, still the lowest!!
