The Planet IGS-4215-8T2S industrial switch is designed for installation in demanding, harsh industrial environments. It is the newest member of the PLANET Industrial-grade, DIN-rail-mounted L2/L4 Managed Gigabit Switch family. It is designed to improve the availability of critical business applications. It offers IPv6/IPv4 dual-stack management and a built-in L2/L4 Gigabit switching engine. Along with eight 8/10/100BASE-T ports and two additional 1000/2BASE-X SFP fiber optic ports for data and video uplink, the IGS-100-1000T4215S can operate reliably, stably, and quietly in any harsh environment without compromising performance. It has an operating temperature range of -8 to 2 degrees Celsius in a rugged IP40 metal housing.

Thanks to its IP30 industrial enclosure, the IGS-4215-8T2S offers a high level of immunity to electromagnetic interference and large electrical surges typically found on factory floors or in unair-conditioned curbside traffic control cabinets. The IGS-4215-8T2S supports redundant ring technology and has strong self-healing capabilities to prevent interruptions and external intrusion. It incorporates advanced ITU-T G.8032 ERPS (Ethernet Ring Protection Switching) technology, Spanning Tree Protocol (802.1s MSTP), and a redundant power supply system into the customer's industrial automation network to enhance system reliability and uptime in harsh factory environments. In certain simple ring networks, data link recovery time can be as fast as <450 ms.

The Planet IGS-4215-8T2S industrial switch can be programmed for advanced switch management features such as dynamic port coupling, 802.1Q VLAN, Q-in-Q VLAN, Multiple Spanning Tree Protocol (MSTP), loop and BPDU monitoring, IGMP snooping, and MLD snooping. Through port coupling, the IGS-4215-8T2S allows operation of a high-speed trunk to combine multiple ports, such as an 8 Gbps thick pipe, and also supports failover. The Link Layer Discovery Protocol (LLDP) is also the Layer 2 protocol included to discover basic information about neighboring devices in the local broadcast domain.

Powerful security from Layer 2 to Layer 4
The PLANET IGS-4215-8T2S provides comprehensive IPv4/IPv6 Layer 2 to Layer 4 Access Control List (ACL) for enforcing security at the edge. It can be used to restrict network access by denying packets based on source and destination IP addresses, TCP/UDP ports, or defined typical network applications. Its protection mechanism also includes 802.1X port-based user and device authentication, allowing it to be deployed with RADIUS to ensure port-level security and block unauthorized users. The Protected Port function prevents communication between edge ports to ensure user privacy. In addition, the Port Security function allows the number of network devices to be limited on a particular port.
Advanced Network Security
The IGS-4215-8T2S also offers DHCP Snooping, IP Source Guard, and Dynamic ARP Inspection functions to prevent IP snooping attacks and reject ARP packets with invalid MAC addresses. Network administrators can now set up highly secure business networks with significantly less time and effort than before.
Flexibility and Long Distance Extension Solution
The two additional SFP slots built into the IGS-4215-8T2S support 100BASE-FX / 1000BASE-SX/LX SFP (Small Form-factor Pluggable) fiber optic transceivers. These are designed for long-distance uplinks to a backbone switch. Distances can be extended from 550 meters to 2 kilometers (multi-mode fiber) and up to 120 kilometers (single-mode fiber or WDM fiber). They are ideal for applications in enterprise data centers and distribution centers.

Intelligent Mechanism for SFP Diagnosis
The IGS-4215-8T2S supports the SFP-DDM (Digital Diagnostic Monitor) function. This allows network administrators to easily monitor real-time SFP parameters. These include optical output power, optical input power, temperature, laser bias current, and transceiver supply voltage.
