On-Line (VFI) UPS System
The most reliable UPS is a VFI UPS, or online UPS or double-conversion UPS. While the terms online and double-conversion are sometimes misused, the term VFI is relatively protected. VFI stands for Voltage and Frequency Independent. This term means the UPS is frequency and voltage independent. The UPS ensures that the UPS doesn't need to switch to battery power, meaning it doesn't need to use the battery when the voltage or frequency varies.
