Planet VC-231GP Media Converter, a PLANET Long Reach Ethernet (LRE) solution, is a Single-port Gigabit Ethernet-over-VDSL2 Converter with PoE injector feature that is installed at a remote location and connects and powers a PoE IP camera, PoE wireless AP, or PoE IP VoIP phone/door phone there. The unit is integrated with three advanced technologies:

– VDSL2/ADSL2+ Digital Subscriber Line technologies

The Planet VC-231GP Media Converter works in conjunction with PLANET VDSL2 converters or multiple-channel VDSL2 switches. This is to simultaneously carry Ethernet Data and Power over a distance of up to 1.4km over a telephone cable. The VC-231GP forward the Ethernet data and delivers a maximum of 30-watt power output an additional 100 meters of UTP cable to an IP device compatible with 802.3af/at PoE PD (powered device) for network deployment. Users can now grow with the structure of the current network with even more flexibility.

IEEE 802.3at Power over Ethernet Plus

PoE in-line power according to the IEEE 802.3at Power over Ethernet Plus standard ensures that the VC-231GP is capable of delivering Gigabit speed. And also to up to 30 watts of power to remote PDs, all over a Cat.5E/6 Ethernet cable. The VC-231GP offers more flexibility in power supply requirements for all types of PDs at very affordable prices.

150/150Mbps Downstream/Upstream High Performance Ethernet over Phone Cable

With the latest VDSL2 technology, the VC-231GP offers selectable asymmetrical/symmetrical band profile options. The unit works fine with an existing telephone network with a symetric data rate of up to 150/150Mbps (G.INP, Sym, 8dB) over a distance of 300m and 21/11Mbps over a long distance of 1.4km. The PLANET Gigabit Ethernet over VDSL2 series provides the very fastest transmission speed over existing copper telephone cable without the need for rewiring.

Versatile, Flexible and Easy Installation

PLANET Gigabit Ethernet-over-VDSL2 converters are plug-and-play. The VC-231GP has two function modes, CPE and CO — the CPE mode is used on the client side and the CO mode on the central side. The CPE or CO mode can be selected using a built-in DIP switch.

For a point-to-point connection, put the VC-231GP in CPE mode and the VC-231G or VC-234G in CO mode as a converter set building the connection. They allow administrators to set up a local Internet in different locations by using the original network structure without additional costs.

Stable and Reliable DSL Data Connection

The VC-231GP works with Vectoring-enabled DSLAMs to eliminate crosstalk interference. This with the integrated support for the ITU-T’s new G.993.5 Vectoring technology. This also to improve the maximum line bandwidth over the existing copper infrastructure.

Implementation with Existing Telephone System

Using the, included in the package of the VC-231GP, you can share the existing telephone line with POTS. This eliminates the need to replace copper cabling. Simply plug the VC-231GP into the existing RJ11 phone with the included splitter and you can have a high-performance VDSL2 network connect. This solution is ideal for use as a Ethernet extender for an existing Ethernet network.

ADSL2+ Fallback

For those ISPs still providing ADSL broadband service, the VC-231GP can provide transmission speeds of up to 24Mbps downstream. Also, it can support 1Mbps upstream with the ADSL2+ technology. The VC-231GP builds a connection to the ISP. It can also be switched directly to VDSL2 after an ISP network upgrade.
