There are still many other battery forms that are based on lithium, but because we at Shop4power work with them less often, we do not offer them. NMC, or Nickel Manganese Cobalt Oxide, is a very popular chemical composition and commercially strong due to the favorable cost of ownership. NMC cells can be delivered as polymer (LiPo) in the form of a rectangular "pouch cell" and in a cylindrical shape such as the very popular 18650 cell shape, they are then called lithium-ion (li-ion) cell. Typically, the LiPo cells offered by Shop4power have a lower chemical wear rate in equal conditions than li-ion, although it should be noted that the difference is becoming smaller. The disadvantage of LiPo cells is the higher initial cost and the lack of a CID. A CID, current interrupt device, interrupts the circuit at too high a cell temperature. This could happen, for example, during charging when the cell is damaged. The CID is incorporated in the positive pole of the cell. LiFePO4 has a longer lifespan than NMC due to the lower wear rate, but because the energy density and nominal voltage are lower, you need more cells to achieve the same power as NMC cells. This results in a higher cost and larger and heavier battery than is possible with NMC. A positive point of LiFePO4 beyond the lifespan is the safety attributed to the cells.
