It is the newest member of the PLANET industrial-grade, DIN-rail type L2/L4 Managed Gigabit PoE+ Switch family. The switch features PLANET intelligent PoE-features to improve the availability of critical business applications. It offers IPv6/IPv4 dual stack management and a built-in L2/L4 Gigabit switching engine. Intelligent check for powered device presence

The IGS-4215-8P2T2S can be configured to monitor the real-time status of connected PDs (powered devices) via ping. If the PD stops working and responds, the IGS-4215-8P2T2S will resume PoE port power and restart the PD. This significantly improves network reliability by resetting the PoE port and reducing the PD's power source, thus reducing the administrative burden.

In “ Extend” operating mode, the IGS-4215-8P2T2S operates on a per-port basis in 10Mbps duplex mode, but can deliver a PoE power output of 20 watts over a distance of up to 250 meters, overcoming the 100-meter limit on Ethernet UTP cable. With this brand-new feature, the IGS-4215-8P2T2S offers an additional solution for 802.3at/af PoE distance extension, saving on Ethernet cable installation costs.

The security mechanisms also include 802.1X port-based user and device authentication, which can be deployed with RADIUS to ensure port-level security and block unauthorized users. The IGS-4215-8P2T2S offers two additional Gigabit TP interfaces that support 10/100/1000BASE-T RJ45 copper. These are used to connect surveillance network devices such as NVRs, video streaming servers, or NAS devices to facilitate surveillance management. Alternatively, via the two dual-speed fiber SFP slots, it can connect to a 100BASE-FX / 1000BASE-SX / LX SFP (Small Form Factor Pluggable) fiber transceiver to create an uplink to a backbone switch and long-distance monitoring center. The distance from the switch can be extended from 550 meters to 2 kilometers (multimode fiber) and to 10/20/40/60/80/120 kilometers (single-mode fiber or WDM fiber). They are well-suited for applications in corporate data centers and distribution centers.

Intelligent SFP Diagnostic Mechanism

The IGS-4215-8P2T2S supports SFP-DDM ( Digital Diagnostic Monitor ) function. This function allows the network administrator to easily monitor real-time parameters of the SFP. Examples include optical input power, optical output power, temperature, laser bias current, and transceiver power supply voltage.
