The media converters can be powered by both DC and AC voltages; some converters can only be powered by DC, while others can be powered by both DC and AC. To further enhance reliability, some converters can be powered by multiple power supplies simultaneously, ensuring the converter continues to be powered even if one of the two fails. With the many options for converting copper to fiber, there's always a suitable solution for your applications. Planet also offers an Industrial Media Converter suitable for delivering Power Over Ethernet. Fiber optic data is then converted to UTP copper RJ45 data, and an IEEE802.3af/IEEE802.3at POE power supply is also injected into the UTP cable. This allows the application to be powered at the end of the data cable connected to the POE Media Converter without requiring a power outlet at the final location, allowing power to be supplied from a distance of up to 100 meters.
