The Hubs are not switches and do not have switch functionality. You connect a data cable to the input, and an RJ45 connection with Data and PoE is connected to the output. For each connected RJ45 cable, a Data and Power RJ45 port is also available at the output. These Hubs are available in many versions, with a range of ports from 4 to 24. Note: a 24-port Hub has 48 ports: 24 inputs with Data and 24 outputs with Data and PoE. Besides the difference in the number of ports, there is also a difference in data transmission. We offer Fast Ethernet Hubs and Gigabit Hubs. You can also choose from different power ratings, or in other words, a choice in the type of POE: - Normal POE - 802.3af - maximum 15.4 Watts per port - High PoE - 802.3at - maximum 30 Watts per port - Ultra PoE - 802.3ab - maximum 60 Watts per port These power ratings can be found on HUBs with different data rates. But it doesn't stop with all these different options. All HUBs also have a power budget, a maximum power of the entire HUB. For example, the UPOE-1600G is a 16-port Gigabit HUB. This HUB has a power budget of 600 Watts. So 600 / 16 = 37.5 Watts per port if all ports are in use with a power of at least 38 Watts. However, if you only load 4 ports with 60 watts (4 x 60 = 240 watts) and 10 ports with 30 watts (10 x 30 = 300 watts), the HUB will be loaded with 540 watts and there's no problem. Usually, the load per user is lower than specified. If a supplier states that a UPOE injector or HUB is required, this doesn't necessarily mean you need to supply 60 watts continuously; it could also be 40 watts or 60 watts sporadically. Besides all the options mentioned above, you can also choose whether you want a manageable HUB or not. All of this results in a good Planet PoE HUB with an abundance of options.
