The Planet Networking & Communication Flat-Type Ethernet Switches are specifically designed for use in locations where minimal depth is essential. The switch must be flat. These special Flat-Type switches have slotted holes on the sides, allowing them to be easily mounted with two screws. Most models are available from stock.

Magnets are also included that can be easily attached to the bottom of the switch. Using these magnets, these switches can be attached to any metal surface. In addition to the special "Flat-Type" housing, the switches in this category are industrial switches and therefore meet the requirements of an industrial switch. These Industrial Ethernet Switches from Planet are suitable for use in the most aggressive environments. The housings of the managed industrial Ethernet switches are specially designed to withstand these aggressive environments. These can include moisture, temperature, dust, water, or other conditions. The switches can withstand temperatures of up to -40 and +75 degrees Celsius and can even operate submerged in water (depending on the type). The switches in this category are Flat-Type switches, meaning they can be easily installed in system cabinets and similar environments. The switches are powered by a DC power supply. Because the DC power supply already provides a DC voltage, it is very easy to create a dual power supply and thus achieve redundancy. Many of the Flat-Type industrial Ethernet switches are still equipped with one or more SFP ports for direct connections to the fiber optic network. Planet Networking & Communication offers a line of GBIC SFP modules specifically for industrial switches, which have a much wider temperature range than standard SFP modules. These SFP modules are labeled "T" for their type: MGB-TSX. If you're choosing an industrial switch because it will be installed in a space where temperature is an issue, it's better to choose a T-type SFP module.
