There are many other lithium-based battery types, but because we work with them less frequently at Shop4power, we don't offer them. NMC, or Nickel Manganese Cobalt Oxide, is a very popular chemical composition and commercially viable due to its favorable cost of ownership. NMC cells can be supplied as Polymer (LiPo) cells in the form of rectangular pouch cells and cylindrical cells, such as the very popular 18650 cell, in which case they are called lithium-ion (Li-ion) cells. Generally, the LiPo cells offered by Shop4power have a lower chemical wear rate under similar conditions than Li-ion cells, although it should be noted that the difference is becoming increasingly smaller. Disadvantages of LiPo cells are the higher initial cost and the lack of a CID (Current Interrupt Device). A CID (Current Interrupt Device) interrupts the circuit when the cell temperature becomes too high. This could occur, for example, during charging if the cell is defective. The CID is integrated into the positive terminal of the cell. LiFePO4 generally has a longer lifespan than NMC cells due to its lower wear rate, but because its energy density and nominal voltage are lower, more cells are needed to achieve the same power output as NMC cells. This results in a higher cost and a larger and heavier battery than what's possible with NMC. A positive aspect of LiFePO4, beyond its longevity, is its safety. Shop4power offers all of the aforementioned solutions in various voltages. Most solutions are available from stock. We offer battery packs with a PVC shrink-coated finish; you can then opt for an additional (additional cost) aluminum casing.
