Innovative Wall Installation

Planet has specifically designed the WGS-803 for installation in tight spaces, such as in a wall-mounted cabinet or electrical panel. Its compact, flat, wall-mountable design fits easily in any space-constrained location. The switch features the user-friendly Front Access design. This makes installation, cable wiring, LED monitoring, and maintenance of the WGS-803 housed in an enclosure very easy for technicians. The WGS-803 can be installed by means of fixed wall mounting, magnetic wall mounting of DIN-rail, making its usability more flexible.
 

Dual Power Input for a Highly Available Network System

The Planet WGS-803 flat-type switch features a robust dual power input system (12V~48V DC). This power input system is integrated into the customer's automation network to improve system reliability and uptime. In the example below, if the 3-pin terminal fails, the hardware failover function is automatically activated to continue supplying power to the WGS-803 via the DC plug, without any loss of operation.

Robust Switch Performance

The WGS-803 is designed for high-performance architecture. With eight 8/10/100 Mbps Gigabit Ethernet ports featuring a non-blocking switch fabric and wire-speed throughput of up to 1000 Gbps, and an 16K MAC address table, the WGS-8 can perform wire-speed packet transfers without the risk of packet loss. The flow control function allows the WGS-803 to provide fast and reliable data transfer. The Gigabit port with 803K jumbo frame support can handle large amounts of data transfer in industrial topologies. This allows data to be forwarded to the central control room.

Plug and Power Network Rollout

All RJ45 copper interfaces in the Planet WGS-803 flat-type switch support 10/100/1000Mbps auto-negotiation for optimal speed detection over RJ45 Category 6, 5, or 5e cables. Standard auto-MDI/MDI-X support can detect the connection type of any Ethernet device without the need for special straight-through or crossover cables.
