Planet VC-231GP Media Converter, a PLANET Long Reach Ethernet (LRE) solution, is a Single-port Gigabit Ethernet-over-VDSL2 Converter with PoE injector A function installed at a remote location that connects and powers a PoE IP camera, PoE wireless AP, or PoE IP VoIP phone/doorphone. The Planet VC-231GP Media Converter works with PLANET VDSL2 converters or multiple-channel VDSL2 switches to simultaneously transmit Ethernet data and power over a distance of up to 1.4km over a telephone cable. The VC-231GP forwards the Ethernet data and delivers a maximum of 30-watt power output an additional 100 meters UTP cable to an IP device that is compatible with 802.3af/at PoE PD (powered device) for network deployment. Users can now grow with the structure of their current network with even more flexibility.

IEEE 802.3at Power over Ethernet Plus

PoE inline power, compliant with the IEEE 802.3at Power over Ethernet Plus standard, enables the VC-231GP to deliver Gigabit speeds. It also delivers up to 30 watts of power to remote PDs, all over a Cat. 5E/6 Ethernet cable. The VC-231GP offers greater flexibility in power requirements for all types of PDs at very affordable prices.

150/150Mbps Downstream/Upstream High Performance Ethernet over Telephone Cable

Featuring the latest VDSL2 technology, the VC-231GP offers selectable asymmetric/symmetric band profile options. The unit works perfectly with an existing telephone network with a symmetric data rate up to 150 / 150Mbps (G.INP, Sym, 8dB) Over a distance of 300m and 21/11Mbps over a long distance of 1.4km. The PLANET Gigabit Ethernet over VDSL2 series offers the fastest transmission speeds over existing copper telephone lines without the need for rewiring.

Versatile, Flexible and Easy Installation 

The PLANET Gigabit Ethernet-over-VDSL2 converters are plug-and-play. The VC-231GP has two operating modes, CPE and CO—CPE mode is used on the client side and CO mode on the central side. The CPE or CO mode can be selected using a built-in DIP switch.

For a point-to-point connection, the VC-231GP must be set to CPE mode and the VC-231G or VC-234G to CO mode as a converter set to establish the connection. These allow administrators to set up local internet access in various locations using the original network structure at no additional cost.

Stable and Reliable DSL Data Connection

The VC-231GP works with vectoring-enabled DSLAMs to mitigate crosstalk interference, with integrated support for ITU-T's new G.993.5 vectoring technology. This also improves maximum line bandwidth over existing copper infrastructure.

Implementation with Existing Telephone System

Using the splitter included in the VC-231GP package, you can share your existing phone line with POTS. This eliminates the need to replace your copper wiring. Simply plug the VC-231GP with the included splitter into your existing RJ11 phone line and you're ready to create a high-performance VDSL2 network. connect. This solution is ideal for use as a Ethernet extender for an existing Ethernet network. 

ADSL2+ Fallback

For those ISPs still providing ADSL broadband service, the VC-231GP can deliver transmission speeds of up to 24Mbps downstream. It can also support 1Mbps upstream with ADSL2+ technology. The VC-231GP establishes a connection with the ISP. It can also be switched over to VDSL2 immediately after an ISP network upgrade.
