An innovative last-mile solution integrated with FTTx and VDSL2
The VC-231GF features one 1000BASE-X SFP slot for external fiber optic Ethernet connection and one RJ11 port with VDSL2 technology to provide excellent bandwidth up to a total duplex data rate of 300Mbps. It can bridge a maximum distance of up to 1,4km (4.593ft) over existing telephone wiring to the in-house VDSL2 router or bridge, solving the challenges of in-house fiber installation.
The VC-231GF enables Internet Service Providers (ISPs) and System Integrators (SIs) to deploy Gigabit Ethernet fiber optic cables to the front of the building or subscriber's home, delivering high-speed triple-play service over existing telephone wiring. They can easily upgrade their existing networks without any hassle. Furthermore, its compact metal housing makes it easy to install in a telecom closet.
The fiber link capability allows for expansion of FTTx implementation.
With the built-in 1000BASE-X SFP (small form-factor pluggable) fiber interface, the VC-231GF supports various optical types for network expansion. The distance via the fiber link can reach up to 120 km. This makes setting up a network solution such as FTTH (Fiber to the Home), FTTC (Fiber to the Curb) for ISPs, or FTTB (Fiber to the Building) very easy for long-distance deployments.
The VC-231G provides excellent bandwidth for triple-play devices for home entertainment and communication. Using the latest VDSL2 (Very-high-data-rate Digital Subscriber Line 2) technology, the VC-231GF offers selectable asymmetric/symmetric data rates. It works well with a large telephone line network, with a symmetric data rate of up to 150/150 Mbps (G.INP, Sym, 8dB) over a distance of 300 m and 25/15 Mbps over a long distance of 1 km. The VC-231G enables many multimedia services to be accessed locally via the Internet, such as VoD (video on demand), voice over IP, video telephony, IPTV, Internet caching servers, distance learning, and more.
Versatile, flexible and easy to install
The PLANET Gigabit Ethernet-over-VDSL2 converters feature a plug-and-play design. The VC-231GF offers two operating modes: CPE for the client side and CO for the central side. The CPE or CO mode can be adjusted using a built-in DIP switch.
For a point-to-point connection, the CO mode of the VC-231GF and the CPE mode of the VC-231G, VC-234G, or VDR-301N must be configured as a pair of converters to establish the connection. This allows administrators to deploy a new local intranet at different locations, using the original network structure, at no additional cost.
Implementation with existing telephone system
Use the additional splitter included in the VC-231GF package to share your existing phone line with POTS. This eliminates the need to replace existing copper wiring. Simply connect the VC-231GF with the additional splitter to your existing RJ11 phone jack. This allows you to connect a high-quality VDSL2 network. It's ideal for use as an Ethernet extender for an existing Ethernet network.
