150/150Mbps Downstream/Upstream, High-Performance Gigabit Ethernet over Telephone Cable Solution
PLANET VC-231G, a new-generation, high-performance Gigabit Ethernet-over-VDSL2 Converter, works perfectly with existing telephone network lines. This provides a symmetrical data rate of up to 150 / 150Mbps (G.INP, Sym, 8dB) over a distance of 300m and 22/10Mbps over a long distance of 1.4km. The principle is based on two-core networking technology, Gigabit Ethernet en VDSL2 (Very-high-data-rate Digital Subscriber Line 2). VDSL2 technology offers the absolute fastest data transmission speeds over existing copper telephone lines. This eliminates the need for rewiring.
High Performance Ethernet over VDSL2
Using the latest VDSL2 technology, the PLANET VC-231G provides high-speed internet access, with up to 190Mbps for both upstream and downstream data transmissions. Integrated support for ITU-T's new G.993.5 vectoring technologyThe VC-231G works with vectoring-enabled DSLAMs to eliminate crosstalk interference and improve maximum line bandwidth over existing copper infrastructure.
Implementing Existing Copper Telephone Cables
The VC-231G is also a Long Reach Ethernet (LRE) Converter. It offers one RJ45 Ethernet port and one RJ11 telephone connector for the VDSL2 connection. The additional splitter included in the VC-231G package can be used to share the existing telephone line with POTS, eliminating the need to replace existing copper wiring. You simply plug the VC-231G with the additional splitter into the existing RJ11 telephone connector. You can then immediately connect a high-performance VDSL2 network. This solution is ideal for use as an Ethernet extender for an existing Ethernet network.
High-demanding Service Connectivity Providing for ISP/Triple Play Equipment
The VC-231G provides excellent bandwidth for triple play home entertainment and communication equipment. With asymmetric data transmission of 190 / 100Mbps (G.INP, Asym, 8dB)The VC-231G enables the use of numerous multimedia services over the local internet. These include VoD (video on demand), voice over IP, video phone, IPTV, internet caching servers, distance learning, and more.
Simple and Flexible Installation
The Ethernet-over-VDSL2 converter is designed as plug-and-play and fully compatible with all network protocols. The operational status of each individual port and the entire system can be monitored using diagnostic LEDs on the front panel. The VC-231G offers two modes: CPE en COCPE mode is used on the client side and CO mode on the central side. The CPE or CO mode can be selected using a built-in DIP switch. For a point-to-point connection, a CPE mode VC-231G and a CO mode VC-231G must be set up as a pair of converters to establish the connection.
ADSL2+ Fallback
For those ISPs still providing ADSL broadband service, the VC-231G can deliver transmission rates of up to 24Mbps downstream and 1Mbps upstream with ADSL2+ technology. The VC-231G establishes a connection with the ISP and can also be switched directly over VDSL2 after the ISP network upgrade.

Ethernet Distance Bridging
Two VC-231G converters function as a pair, allowing them to be used as an Ethernet distance extension over existing telephone wiring. With just one pair of AWG-24 copper wires, two Ethernet networks can be easily connected, achieving a maximum data transfer rate of 200Mbps. Telephone service can continue to be used while the VC-231G CO/CPE is operating. The two solutions shown below are typical applications for which the Ethernet over VDSL2 bridge is suitable.

The VC-231 is a perfect solution for quickly delivering a cost-effective yet high-speed network solution to multi-unit buildings such as residential buildings (multiple units in one building), commercial buildings (multiple tenants), hotels, or hospitals. By utilizing existing telephone infrastructure, network installation is simple and requires no new cabling.. With a transmission rate of up to 190 / 100Mbps (G.INP, Asym, 8dB), VoD, IP telephony and various broadband services can be provided without any problems.
Last Mile of FTTx Deployment
The VC-231 is an ideal solution for FTTx (Fiber to the Building, Fiber to the Campus or Fiber to the Node) applications. It supports high bandwidth VDSL2 over existing telephone cabling in the “last mile” from the ISP/Telecom/Service provider's fiber node to customer buildings and homes. The 10/100Mbps port of the VC-231G can be connected directly to a PC or to an Ethernet device such as Ethernet Switches or Broadband Routers..It's perfect for a phone line network because every room already has a phone line, so they can easily use those lines for data transmission, and the entire building can share the internet to a WAN at minimal cost.
