Designed to be installed in harsh industrial environments with high demands. The Planet IGS-4215-4T2S Industrial Switch is the new addition to the PLANET Industrial-grade, DIN-rail type L2/L4 managed Gigabit Switch family. This is to improve the availability of critical business applications. It offers IPv6/IPv4 dual stack management and a built-in L2/L4 Gigabit switching engine, along with 4 10/100/1000BASE-T ports and 2 additional 100/1000BASE-X SFP fiber ports for data and video uplink. The IGS-4215-4T2S is capable of reliable, stable and silent operation in any harsh environment without impacting its performance. It has an operating temperature range of -40 to 75 degrees C in a rugged IP30 metal housing.

 

 

 

 

Robust Protection

The IGS-4215-4T2S offers ±6KV DC contact discharge and ±8KV DC air discharge for Ethernet ESD protection. It also supports ±4KV surge immunity to enhance product stability and protect users' networks from devastating ESD attacks, ensuring that operating currents do not fluctuate.

Redundant Ring, Fast Recovery for Security Systems

The Planet IGS-4215-4T2S Industrial Switch supports redundant ring technology and features strong self-healing capabilities to prevent interruptions and external intrusions. It incorporates advanced ITU-T G.8032 ERPS (Ethernet Ring Protection Switching) technology, Spanning Tree Protocol (802.1s MSTP), and a redundant power input system for customers' industrial automation applications to enhance system reliability and uptime in harsh factory environments. In some simple ring networks, data link recovery times can be as fast as <450ms.

 

 

Robust Layer 2 Features

The IGS-4215-4T2S can be programmed for advanced switch management functions. Examples are dynamic port link aggregation, 802.1Q VLAN, Q-in-Q VLAN, Multiple Spanning Tree Protocol (MSTP) , loop and BPDU guard , IGMP snooping , and MLD snooping . Via the link aggregation, the IGS-4215-4T2S allows the operation of a high-speed trunk. This to combine with multiple ports such as an 8Gbps fat pipe, and supports fail-over as well. Also, the Link Layer Discovery Protocol (LLDP) is the Layer 2 protocol included to help discover basic information about neighboring devices on the local broadcast domain.

Powerful Security from Layer 2 to Layer 4

The PLANET IGS-4215-4T2S offers an extensive Access Control List (ACL) at Layer 2 to Layer 4 for IPv4/IPv6 to ensure maximum security. It can be used to restrict network access by denying packets based on source and destination IP addresses, as well as based on TCP/UDP ports or defined typical network applications. Its protection mechanism also includes 802.1X port-based user and device authentication. These ports can be implemented using RADIUS to ensure port-level security and block unauthorized users. The Port Protect feature prevents communication between edge ports to safeguard user privacy. Furthermore, the Port Security feature allows the user to limit the number of network devices on a specific port.

Advanced Network Security 

The IGS-4215-4T2S also offers features such as DHCP Snooping , IP Source Guard , and Dynamic ARP Inspection to prevent IP snooping by attacks and reject ARP packets with invalid MAC addresses. Network administrators can now build highly secure enterprise networks with significantly less time and effort than before.

 

Flexibility and Long-Distance Extension Solution

The two additional SFP slots in the IGS-4215-4T2S support 100BASE-FX/1000BASE-SX/LX SFP (Small Form-factor Pluggable) fiber transceivers. These are for long-distance uplinks to backbone switches. Distances can be extended from 550 meters to 2 kilometers (multi-mode fiber) and up to 120 kilometers (single-mode fiber or WDM fiber). They are suitable for applications in enterprise data centers and distribution centers.

 

 

Intelligent SFP Diagnostic Mechanism

The IGS-4215-4T2S supports the SFP-DDM (Digital Diagnostic Monitor) function. This allows network administrators to easily monitor SFP parameters in real time. These include output potential, input potential, temperature, laser current, and transceiver supply voltage.
